Buckeyes: Tupac Would Love It
Ohio Sports Report —
So we have some blood in the water. ESPN pounced earlier today when they dialed up Pryor’s former high school coach hoping to get a juicy quote to run with. The verdict: plenty of quotes , but only one or maybe two that really pack any punch. The most damning, offering that Ohio State could maybe make better use of his talents is now one of the biggest non-adultery related stories in the sporting world. Yahoo!’s college football blogger, Matt Hinton of Doctor Saturday, quite possibly now addicted to the pageview gold that publishing disparaging notes about the Buckeyes can ...
Terrelle Pryor’s HS coach: Tressel should let him run more
The Scores Report - The National Sports Blog —
Ohio State sophomore quarterback Terrelle Pryor’s high school coach doesn’t like the way Jim Tressel is utilizing his former star.
From ESPN.com:
“They need Terrelle to run more,” former Jeannette (Pa.) High School coach Ray Reitz said. “They’ve put the reins on him and they need to let him go free. When I watch Terrelle play right now, I see a robot.”
Reitz, now the coach at Latrobe High, said Pryor was recruited on the premise of a more diverse offense.
“All I ...
Because It's Wednesday and We Have Nothing More to Talk About: Terrelle Pryor
Never on Injured Reserve —
... Krenzel or, god forbid, Todd Boeckman, the Buckeyes continue to look completely out of sync. Already at two losses, this kind of offensive inefficiency won't work against Iowa and it might not even do much against Michigan. Fans and media members have all openly asked the question of when Tressel will realize that giving his prized 2008 recruit some free reign under center might actually result in winning some more ballgames. A few others have decided to chime in. Ray Reitz, Pryor's high school coach spoke out and, like the rest of us, he feels like his former player is ...

Buckeye critics piling on, and hitting close to home
Dr. Saturday —
... collapse against a last-place team riding a five-game losing streak -- the kind of routine, gimme win Ohio State has never let slip away on Tressel's watch -- and the critics of both Pryor and how OSU is using Pryor are rushing into the breach with both barrels blazing. Among the second group of critics is Pryor's high school coach, apparently, who told ESPN's Joe Schad today that the most sought-after player in the class of 2008 was recruited to run, and they should let him run, man: ...

... Joe Schad, ESPN: Terrelle Pryor's prep coach says the Ohio State quarterback would have been a better fit for Rich Rodriguez's offense at Michigan. "There is no question that Rich Rodriguez's offense, for example, would be more apt to suit Terrelle's skills," Ray Reitz said. ...

Pryor's HS coach:
"They need Terrelle to run more," former Jeannette (Pa.) High School coach Ray Reitz said. "They've put the reins on him and they need to let him go free. When I watch Terrelle play right now, I see a robot."
"All I know is they promised him that they would teach him a pro-style system with both a shotgun and under center," Reitz said. "Jim Tressel is a great coach and he's been running his offense successfully for 30 years. But I'd like to see some zone-read plays where with one ...

The Hybrid: War In The Sports Blogosphere
Tremendous Upside Potential —
... Man. With their streak of dominance against inferior Big Ten road competition, they certainly deserve finger pointing and blame assessment, but Terrelle Pryor is just a sophomore. He's played bad. But that doesn't make him any less gifted/less cool/less mobile. He's done such an admirable job handling the pressure, too... uh, with his words. Not his play. I mean, look at what his high school coach had the stones to say following the Purdue loss (via Doc Saturday via ESPN): "There is no question that Rich Rodriguez's offense [at ...

... of spoiled fans could be coming to a head. Or this could be the year the Bucks firmly put their foot in the ground and brought it. Well, we’re halfway through the year and there are still more questions than answers. Those questions lie mainly on the offense side of the ball, but also on the coaching staff. At this point the biggest question mark (and the one that everybody has an opinion about) is the ability of one Terrelle Pryor. Yesterday, Pryor’s high school coach Ray Reitz got his name in the news by stating that Pryor would be better suited to run plays from a read ...

Ohio State’s Message to Terrelle Pryor: It’s OK to Punt
Larry Brown Sports —
... The wheels really started to fall off the bus for the Buckeyes following that embarrassing loss and most people felt Pryor had regressed. Also hurting matters was when Pryor’s high school coach chimed in to say that the QB wasn’t being used properly by Ohio State and that Terrelle should have gone to Michigan. I say that Ohio State’s a fine place for him to be, he’s just going through growing pains on a massive stage. Pryor needs to learn how to look off receivers and avoid locking in on his targets, and that turnovers are killer. So ...
