Eagles Trade for Takeo Spikes, Kelly Holcomb
Philadelphia Eagles — ... Could that be all for Jeremiah Trotter or Dhani Jones? The Eagles have just traded Darwin Walker and a late-round draft pick in 2008 to the Bills for linebacker Takeo Spikes and quarterback Kelly Holcomb. Spikes has played both middle and strong-side linebacker, and ESPN.com’s Len Pasquarelli writes that ...

Eagles Release Jeremiah Trotter
The700Level.com - Philly Sports & Minutiae — ... I know he's lost a step, but I gotta say, I'm shocked by this news. The Eagles have released LB Jeremiah Trotter. Further details to come from the team at 1:30PM, but it's already been announced at www.philadelphiaeagles.com. ...

Eagles Release Jeremiah Trotter
Philadelphia Eagles — ... . The Eagles’ Web site is reporting that the team has released long-time middle linebacker Jeremiah Trotter. Yes, the Birds cut their starting middle linebacker. No comments from Andy Reid have been reported yet, so we won’t get any kind of explanation for the time being, but Trotter did underperform last season. However, he showed up in much better shape for training camp, and seemingly bought himself one more season as a two-down linebacker. If the Eagles are satisfied with Takeo Spikes at weakside ‘backer, then presumably Omar Gaither will become the new starter after impressing on the weak side last season. ...

NFC East Preview
Construda — ... - The deadskins will finally climb out of the cellar and finish ahead of the Giants. We like Jason Campbell, but we feel that he doesnt have a lot of weapons to throw to. Clinton Portis should be back to form, which will help the young QB out. In the end, the 'skins will once again struggle to put points on the board. Scott Baio Sexiness factor for the 'skins is 6.5 out of 10. 2. Philadelphia Eagles - Will Donovan McNabb finish a season? Chances are no and he will probably find a way to blame TO for the teams struggles. Donovan, it has been over two years since TO called you out, GET OVER IT! Who do they have at the WR position? Some guy named Baskett, Reggie Brown and a white guy....yeah they will produce this season. We did like the D, that is until they cut Trotter this past week. I have a feeling we will be talking about Andy Reid's sons more this season then the Eagles. They have a shot at the Wild Card in the weak NFC. The Scott B ...

Terrell Owens: Thanks for the Memories
ON THE BUZZER Sports Blog — ... went back to Philadelphia on Sunday night and caught 10 passes for 174 yds and a touchdown.  Thanks for releasing him.  The once mighty Eagles looked like a bunch of chicks, flopping around the field, as the Cowboys pounded 38-17.  This game was not even as close as the score reflects.  Donovan McNabb seemed helpless. Albeit he has not quality receivers to throw to.  The only weapon on offense is Brian Westbrook, who finished the day with 155 total yds and 1 td.  I hate to bring this up, but have Coach Andy Reid’s problems interfere with the success of this team.  Maye it’s time that he step down, and possibly take quarterback McNabb with him. That’s right folks, I said time for a change in Philly.  This team hasn’t done didly since Owens departure. The defense is no longer what they used to be.  It seems like every team in Philly is struggling, with the Phillies 1st round playoff disappearance, to the Sixers playoff drought.  But he ...

Bye Bye Donovan McNabb
ON THE BUZZER Sports Blog — Everyone saw what the Philadelphia Eagles can do without Donovan McNabb.  Sure they lost against the Patriots, but then again, so did the Indianapolis Colts.  On Sunday night, A.J. Feely, in his first start since 2004, went into New England and put up a fight that McNabb could only dream of. I’ve been saying it all season, time for this guy (Donovan) to go.  The Eagles need to trade him and get some marquee player(s) or draft picks for him. Westbrook is tearing it up, but his days are numbered.  That Philly defense is not what it used to be.  The wide receiver corp needs major ...

Donovan McNabb: He’s Baaack…
ON THE BUZZER Sports Blog — Hey guys, I’m ready to come back. That’s what Donovan McNabb essentially said.  His team on the verge of another losing season, is currently in the cellar of the NFC East.  And no thanks to McNabb, by the way. The Philadelphia Eagles haven’t been over .500 the entire season.  McNabb  is ranked 14th in passing touchdowns, 26th completion percentage and 13th in quarterback rating.  For someone who has once been touted as a top 5 qb in the league, it might be time to move on. Time for McNabb to throw some other team under the bus. Blame another group of guys for his problems. ...

DE Chris Clemons signs 5 year deal
Bleeding Green Nation — Well it looks like the Eagles have taken the old football cliche "defense wins championships" to heart, signing their second defensive free agent in as many days. Today it was 26 year old DE Chris Clemons, who led the Raiders in sacks last year with 8. His sacks are also tied for the most of any free agent pass rusher this year. Plus, I really need to say... Clemons seems like a really cool guy that's genuinely excited to be here. I'd urge you to the official site and check out his press conference and his interview with Spadaro. I'd hardly call it cockiness(not yet), he comes off much more as genuinely self assured. It's an attitude that I think has been missing from the Eagles WR corps since he who shall not be named was here. We think that the poll should have a third possible response — “Is the person who came up with the idea to put this issue to a fan poll high?”

Eagles sign Sean Jones to 1 year deal
Bleeding Green Nation —   The Eagles have announced that they'e signed safety Sean Jones to a one year deal. After having two big seasons in 2006 and 2007, Jones likely thought he'd be fielding big offers this offseason. But after a injury plauged 2008 it doesn't appear that he found the market he expected. It's likely that he signed a one year deal with the Eagles as a chance to prove himself on a high profile team. Of course, I'm just speculating here. The Eagles obviously get a solid veteran safety to help mitigate the loss of Brian ...
