How do you feel about Michael Phelps earning endorsement money with Mazda?

Earlier today, a link to this story arrived in my inbox with the subject line saying "Mike Phelps the traitor." But does endorsing a foreign automaker make him less an icon? I don't fault the guy for earning, but what do you think?
