Tuesday night at the Stadium, the Yankees lost to the Detroit Tigers, 6-4. Phil Hughes pitched yet another awful game, only lasting 3 2/3 innings, allowing six runs. Phil Hughes (0-4) has been absolutely horrible this season for the Yankees, and actually heard the boos from the home crowd. Phil Hughes officially has a stress fracture of his right 9th rib. This explains the side pain which was earlier attributed to his right obliques. They found out from the doctor at around 6:30 tonight per Suzyn Waldman that Phil has a strained oblique, won't even pick up a baseball for about 6 days. The team doesn't have to decide until Saturday who will make his next start. Girardi said this will delay Hughes' development. Hughes crossed-up catcher Chris Stewart a few times last night, and later admitted that he had trouble seeing the signs.
