Melky On The Block?
Published 11/21/2007 by Steve Lombardi at WasWatching.com
From the Chicago Sun-Times -
The New York Yankees, who are shopping center fielder Melky Cabrera for pitching, could become a formidable sixth suitor [for Torii Hunter] if they can trade Cabrera by early next week.
Ah, the "Whither Melky? question.
You have to start to wonder if Brett Gardner and Austin Jackson are making El Lechero much easier to deal these days?
Man, I'm going to miss him. Probably not as much as Cano will miss him - but, pretty darn close.

... too much for a fourth outfielder. Because he can run, Guillen had an unreasonable fascination with him. That’s bad. He’s handsome, but not super handsome. And so on… So, it’s great that the team finally cut him loose. Now, Ozzie can’t put him in the lineup—though, to be honest, it’s not like the team has been bursting at the seam with outfielders. Nevertheless, maybe the Sox can shed some salary (see this week’s Garland deal) and pick up an effective player (i.e. not Torii Hunter, as is the rumor ).—- Here’s the problem: The Sox are now looking at Jerry Owens in left field ...
Melky on the block

... In an article on possible destinations for Torii Hunter, the Chicago Sun-Times reports that the Yanks are shopping Melky Cabrera in an effort to land some pitching. No one elicits more vehement posting than Melky Cabrera, and I’d just like to say that if the Yanks can spin off a package centered around Melky for some pitching - Dan Haren and Joe Blanton may be on the block soon, for starters - I would pull the trigger on that deal in a heartbeat. I love his defense, but I’m just not sold on Melky’s offensive capabilities. ...

Wittenmyer says Hunter has at least five offers in hand. Four of them are for five years, while the Rangers have offered six. This doesn't count the Twins' lowball 3/45 offer.
So which five clubs have made proposals to Hunter? The Rangers, White Sox, Dodgers, Royals, and Nationals comprise the list. Wittenmyer notes that the Dodgers could get aggressive on Hunter if they miss out on Miguel ...

... ) On this Thanksgiving eve, I hope everyone who read this blog has a lovely holiday, and that you all have a lot to be thankful for.
