No Mirko till September

No Mirko till September July 7, 2008 – 11:10 am by fightlinker [image] I dunno why it seems so hard to get all those former PRIDE superstars into the ring/cage. I think I’d have an easier time getting Mandy Moore to let me put a dead squirrel in her vagina than sort out the magic condition where the stars are in alignment and guys like Fedor or Mirko or Mark Hunt can fight. This time we’ve got Mirko CroCop pulling out of DREAM.5 (which follows him pulling out of DREAM.4 , which follows him fighting some fatty at DREAM.1): unfortunately I have some bad news– I won’t be fighting at DREAM 5 at all. I was about to ...

Cro Cop Out of DREAM 5
Published 7/7/2008 by Martin Alexander at MMA on Tap
An official statement was posted in regards to Mirko Cro Cop not being able to compete against Jerome LeBanner on July 21st: Hello everyone, unfortunately I have some bad news I won’t be fighting at DREAM 5 at all. I was about to face Jerome LeBanner but he decided to fight in K1 against Schilt. Mighty Mo was the alternative and I accepted this challenge, but unfortunately Mighty Mo pulled off from the fight. I was ready to face Mo, but maybe this scenario wasn’t that bad for me at all and I’ll tell you why. I’ve been having problems with my right elbow for years and the injury got ...

tn_cc6.jpg Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic announced on his personal blog today that he is no longer scheduled to fight at DREAM.5 on July 21. He had been slated to fight Jerome Banner , who apparently pulled out of the fight vs. Cro Cop in order to fight Semmy Schilt on a K-1 card in a kickboxing match. Instead of fighting an alternate, Cro Cop has pulled off the card entirely and will instead use the time to rest an injured elbow and to also undergo arthroscopic surgery on his knee, possibly as early as tomorrow.
