By Bryan Hoch / MLB.com 06/29/09 2:44 PM ET Phil Hughes has been dominant in relief and seems to have found "something" that wasn't there as a starter. Maybe this is what he is and they found it by accident. What do you think? -- Paul P., Copley, Pa. It is surprising how well Hughes has made the ...

... Which brings me to my next point: Notice how this all comes full circle. It was a matter of time before foolish Yankees fans and probable critics started raising the question whether Hughes should become a reliever from now on. Here's a newsflash in case you missed it the first eight million times: Good starters make great relievers. Their velocity improves, their numbers improve, their adrenaline raises. Instead of pacing themselves for seven innings, they only need to face three to six batters on a normal night, and logically, all three of those variables come into play. Any ...
Is Hughes the new Joba? Huh?
It's About The Money - A New York Yankees Blog —
You can count me as one of those who loves what he sees with Hughes' emergence in the Yanks bullpen. He can handle two big innings, throws heat, gets the ball to either Bruney or Mo. Sure, he's a starter toiling in the bullpen right now, but given the depth of their rotation (especially with Wang making some improvements), I think Hughes should remain here at least until Joba hits his inning limits.
