Trade Talk: Eagles' Donovan McNabb for Bears' Lance Briggs

The Philadelphia Inquirer today floats one of those trade rumors that we all know isn't going to happen but is fun to talk about anyway: The Eagles sending Donovan McNabb to the Bears for Lance Briggs . Inquirer columnist Don McKee calls the trade "the inner thought of one of the area's most sage football observers." He notes that Briggs is unhappy as the Bears' franchise player and that McNabb is unhappy that the Eagles drafted quarterback Kevin Kolb with their first pick in last year's draft. That would make the two players switching places a sensible solution. Of course, there are all kinds of reasons that it wouldn't be sensible. There are salary cap ramifications, for one thing, which are usually conveniently overlooked when it comes time for trade speculation. ... The McNabb to the Chicago Bears rumor started in a column by Don McKee of the Philadelphia Inquirer who is basically doing his best impression of a caller to the Mike & the Mad Dog show. "Uhhh yeah, Dawg...how about we trade Giambi and Pavano for someone like, I don't know, Ray Halloway." (That was on purpose folks.) McKee's proposition, while interesting, has about as much merit as my opinions on astro physics.
