I lived in Indiana for a good part of four years in college, and I’m struggling to find one person I knew that really loved the Pacers. (Except for this kid I knew who was autistic and rocked Pacers jerseys.)
Perhaps its because the Colts and Bears dominated professional fandom in Bloomington. (Which reached its height in 2007 when they played each other in the Super Bowl.) Perhaps its because I didn’t live with anyone from Indiana, and so I didn’t see fans every day, and my memory only serves me best with repetition.
Now, I know they existed. I just didn’t know many of them.
