Ron Artest found out he was traded live on the radio
Published 8/4/2008 by houroc at Hail Mary Jane» Hail Mary Jane
If you read blog regularly, you probably found out that Ron Artest was traded before he did. Last week when Ron was traded to the Houston Rockets, he found out while calling in to a live radio station. He was trying wish Sirius radio host Scott Ferrall a happy birthday and Ferrall dropped the news to him. He didn’t stay on that topic for long, smart move. He probably didn’t want to say anything that would get him into trouble. Tags: ron, ...

This City Just Got a Little Less Zany

I promised I wouldn't cry. There are myriad reasons this is a good trade for the Kings. Yes -- it's a good trade for Houston, Ron-Ron himself, Tracy McGrady, Jonathan Feigen and others. But this is a Kings blog, not a Jonathan Feigen blog, so let's ...

Rockets Snag League's Craziest Third Banana
A Daily Babble Production Not only does it look as though the Ron Artest sweepstakes is over, but there may actually be a winner here aside from the team that was looking to achieve some good old-fashioned addition by subtraction. As was reported (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/5914062.html) by the Houston Chronicle's Jonathan Feigen on Tuesday, the Kings are expected to ...
Now or Later?
Houston just got much better, adding Artest for relatively nothing. It’s amazing how the good team’s in the West keep adding pieces at Costco prices. The Lakers (Gasol), New Orleans (Posey), Utah (Korver) and now Houston have all improved their team significantly without giving much. San Antonio would have been on this list if the Warriors didn’t throw big money at Maggette. ...
Yao Concerned About Artest Rocketing to Houston
In an off-season of monumental player moves, the NBA went through another one on Wednesday, as the Houston Rockets acquired Ron Artest from the Sacramento Kings. Artest must be pretty pleased going to a playoff contender (although he frankly could care less unless the money’s not good). But one of Ron’s future teammates, Yao Ming , voiced a little reservation about Artest ...
Will Ron Artest Really Make Houston Legit?
In a word: perhaps. But I'm not totally convinced Ron Artest won't do more harm than good to any team he lands with. There are, however, a few reasons for Rockets fans to feel OK about this trade . 1.) Artest is unquestionably talented, especially on the defensive side of the ball. With him and Tracy McGrady on the wings and Yao Ming's presence around the rim we should be looking at one of ...
Ron Artest Goes To The Rockets!!!
The Western Conference just got harder. Your boy Ron Artest is now a Houston Rocket. Artest who has a good history with the head coach of the Rockets Rick Adelman. Artest had this to say about Adelman.I haven’t spoken to anybody yet,” Artest said. “But if that’s true [about a Houston trade], I don’t even [...]
It Sounds Good on Paper
Bringing Ron Artest into Houston certainly sounds like a good decision in basketball terms. The Rockets gave up Bobby Jackson (2008 version not the 2002 version), Donte Green and their 2009 draft pick (which will certainly be in the high teens if not the 20s). In return they receive a stellar defender with ferocious intensity and someone on the offensive end who could easily drop 17 points a ...
Blog Jam: Houston Rockets Acquire A Space Cadet
SLAM ONLINE has the scoop that Kings and Rockets have reached an agreement to send Ron Artest to Houston in exchange for rookie Donte’ Green , Bobby Jackson and a first round pick in next year’s draft. This move could be a good fit for Artest, not just because a guy who isn’t from this planet is fittingly now on a team called the Rockets, but it also will give Clutch City ...
Bobby Jackson Goes Back to the Only Team That Ever Thought He Was Good; Adelman and Artest Elope
Artest is heading South , trading purple for red, and never has to play with Mikki Moore again. Life is good. I'm still not quite sure what the Kings saw in this deal that the rest of us don't. An expiring contract (Jackson) is good and all, but Artest would've expired anyway. Greene is talented, but at the moment he's a summer league wonder and a huuuge question mark. The first round pick ...
Dick Justice On The Rockets’ Tarnished 2009 NBA Championship
As you’ve probably heard elsewhere, Houston have reunited Rick Adelman with Ron Artest, acquiring the Tru Warier for the price of Bobby Jackson, Donte Green and a future draft pick . A disillusioned Richard Justice, blogging for the Houston Chronicle , concedes, “if the Rockets win a championship–and they’re good enough if Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming stay healthy and ...
