... from that standpoint, looper’s performance last night was extremely heartening. prior to that he had only thrown one quality start since april, and only 4 on the season. he is capable of running off a string of effective starts, and now would be the perfect time for him to exhibit that ability. the cards are also preparing to welcome isringhausen back to the staff, though (thankfully) not as the closer. i’m skeptical that he can contribute, but i’m rooting for the guy to prove me wrong. if he can start getting guys out, it’ll ease the load on the starting ...
