It's Not The Fall That Hurts. It's The Sudden Stop At The End
Anyone who didn’t realize by the end of December that this was exactly how this season was going to end was either blindly optimistic or hopelessly naïve. One thing is certain, those folks haven’t been watching very closely. We never got it back. This team lost everything, its confidence, its swagger, its resilience just before Christmas and we never got it back. It’s as simple as ... [link]

The Game Day Skate for Game 5
Published 4/17/2008 by HabsFan29 at Four Habs Fans
Bullet points for what you missed while dreaming of Eva Longoria... Sens: big collapse in the history of the league, or biggest collapse in the history of the league? Who remembers the "Habs of '76-77" talk early in the year? Seems like another lifetime ago as the Sens get swept by the Pens. SLC sums it up nicely; TMS is suddenly a Nashville fan, after they even their series with the Wings. Go, uh, er, uh, Predators! Yeah, that's it, Predators. Had to look it up; Sean Avery's still a douche, but that doesn't stop the Rangers from ...

Reaction from the Sens world
Published 4/17/2008 by Pat at Igloo Dreams
Now that we have some time on our hands, here is some of the reaction to the end of the series from the Sens blogosphere - note the extreme contrast between the end of the Pens season last year and the end of the Sens this year: Hockeyschlock is pretty brutal about the outcome. Penguins Complete Sweep, Advance to Round 2

The Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Ottawa Senators 3-1 on Wednesday night to complete a 4-game series sweep and became the first team to advance to round two of the 2008 Stanley Cup Playoffs. For the Penguins it was sweet redemption for last year’s early exit in in the first round of the playoffs courtesy of these same Ottawa Senators. This season, a more experienced, complete and confident ...

Seattle & Victoria Vacation

While on vacation last week in Seattle and Victoria, British Columbia, I received the Globe and Mail, "Canada’s National Newspaper," in our Victoria hotel room, which included predictions by the paper’s hockey experts. Roy MacGregor deserves credit for predicting that the Ottawa Senators would defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins in seven games. Wonderful selection!

The Senators' senator

Well, that didn't work, did it? Note how he wears his chinstrap like a hockey player, which is why the helmet's rocking around like Marty Brodeur's and pulling the mike away from his face. And I love that he has his script written on his shield. ...
