... Now Jackson has settled his suit, in which he alleged that the team had defamed him and invaded his privacy by releasing his medical records, and signed a new contract. The details of the contract aren't avaliable -- Jackson has apparently taken a lower base salary in exchange for a big signing bonus -- but it's surprising that the Falcons would give in like this. What does that tell other NFL players who are angry about their contracts? ...

... Falcons defensive tackle Grady Jackson's lawsuit against the team has been "resolved," according to his attorney Eric Farber of San Francisco. "Grady is very happy with it," said Farber on Tuesday. "Now he can focus on football." A Falcons spokesperson acknowledged that the case was resolved and added that the team did not want to comment. Jackson didn't participate in workouts on the field during Falcons minicamps, but is expected to report for training camp in late July. According to the NFL Players Association, Jackson, who'd signed a three-year contract with the team last year, now has a four-year deal. He now set to make base salaries of $1 million in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Before those contract changes, Jackson was slated to make $1.5 million in 2007 and 2008 before the contract alterations. ...
