Carlos Pupo had a monster game, going 3-5 with two doubles and a homerun.
Ross Oeder tried to make my blurb about him look silly by going 2-5 with a homerun.
Pete Kozma was 2-3 with a double and a walk.
Nick Additon had another nice outing, going seven innings and giving up two runs, only one earned, on four hits. He didn’t walk anyone and struck out three.
Jared Bradford finished off the game with two perfect innings, striking out a pair. ...

Tommy Pham had a big night going 3-for-4 with a HR.
Richard Castillo had a rough go of hit over 3 innings. He allowed 3 hits, 3 walks, 2 HBP and 2 ER. He struck out 4 batters. He’s maintained solid numbers since being converted to a starter. The main area he could improve on is getting groundballs (and in conjunction keeping the ball in the park).

... had 105 strikeouts in 89 innings at Freed-Hardeman University. He hasn’t quite kept up that strikeout rate at Batavia, but his numbers have been solid. He seems like a nice middle round pick: decent size, a lot of experience and excellent results at a small University. The Cardinals plan seems to be to get a number of pitchers like this and then let them sort themselves out with the piggy back in Quad Cities.

Richard Castillo was brilliant. He allowed only a pair of hits and walks and struck out eight. I’m most encouraged by his 11-2 GO/AO ratio; Castillo’s been pretty fly ball oriented and that’s what’s led to his gopher-ball troubles. This is a good sign.
