Why They Will Win the Big 12 North - A Focus On Strengths

Saturday Buff Bites - Dan Hawkins "A-Okay"
The Ralphie Report — ... he expects them to play that well. The Buffaloes do have one of the conference's best running games and a deep offensive line that should be able to move the ball consistently. I don't know about their quarterbacking combination with Cody Hawkins and Tyler Hansen and I think they'll miss the big-play capabilities that Josh Smith gave them. I also think they need some help on the defense front breaking in a new starting rotation, but I really like Shaun Mohler and Jeff Smart at linebacker and Jimmy Smith at cornerback. That being ...

Experience and Quarterback Growth - Is There Hope?
The Ralphie Report — ... Kiesau or Dan Hawkins or Mike Bohn, the "organization" needs to win. One thing is for sure, I will personally be rooting heavily for Cody Hawkins (and Darrell Scott) to succeed this year (of course I root for all the Buffs but you know what I mean). I think it would be one great story for the program if Hawkins can have one of those great turn around years, have the last laugh against many naysayers and let's face it, this team needs a face. With all due respect to LB Jeff Smart, when Tim Griffin names Smart the player you cannot afford to ...

Everybody’s confidence went down after that." And this, from Jeff Smart, about why CSU was able to run for 127 yards at better than five yards a carry in the first half: "It’s just on us," he said. Hits & Myths from the CSU game... & how to fix the problems.
The Ralphie Report — ... on defense - CB Jimmy Smith really revved it up in the second half, seeming to be all over the field. He was the leading tackler and, as far as I can tell, had shut-down coverage all game. The team had six tackles for losses, including one from first-time starter at Safety Ray Polk, as well as a great pass break-up from true freshman Forrest West.
