THE BOOK--Playing The Percentages In Baseball — Nick Steiner dissects. Among pitchers with at least 400 innings from 2005-2008, he has the 5th worst ERA+ among the 119 qualifying pitchers.  My favorite reclamation project of all time is Dennis Martinez, who from 1983-1986 had the worst ERA+ among 138 qualifying pitchers.  And then he had a fantastic 2nd career starting with the Expos.  It’s these kinds of scouting-favorite pitchers who give you hope that lets the Sidney Ponsons continue to find work every year.
