I've got agree with that, but I'll decide to disagree that my Jazz are a 99% lock for the playoffs...

However, I think it's really far from close to being accurate...which I think has already been decided.

It points out the obvious very well (like the Spurs making the playoffs), but aside from the Pacific Division, can you really guarantee a 94+% of the Jazz, Spurs, Magic, Pistons, and Celtics winning their divisions?

There's not even a 1-in-500 chance the Nuggets catch up to the Jazz and win the division?

Get this....as of today's changes, the Atlanta Hawks are an 8th seed.

Thing is...this may be good at predicting who makes the playoffs because that is determined by the regular season and this uses regular season #s....but throw all that out once the playoffs start.

And that's why using reg. season numbers as a basis for who will win the NBA finals is bunk.

I have been monitoring John Hollinger’s playoff odds calculator for the past couple of months, but have failed to pass it on to all of you.  It is very interesting.  It runs 5,000 iterations of the remaining games to determine the likely finishing record of every team.  He then calculates the probability that each team will make the playoffs as well as how likely they are to win their division, conference, the championship and/or win the lottery. ...
