Jacobs traded to Royals (affect on Ka’aihue, Sanchez and more)
Rotoprofessor —
Well, the offseason is officially upon us with the World Series coming to an end (congratulations all you Phillies fans) and it didn’t take long for the first domino to fall. According to Dick Karegel of mlb.com (click here for the article) the Kansas City Royals have acquired Mike Jacobs from the Florida Marlins in exchange for relief pitcher Leo Nunez.
Honestly, I have no clue why the Royals needed to add Jacobs to the mix. Yes, he is coming off a season where he hit 32 HR and picked up 93 RBI, but with Kila Ka’aihue and Ryan Shealy already on the roster, is he that great of an upgrade? Ka’aihue, in particular, showed a lot of potential at Triple A ...
Mike Jacobs Is Kansas City Bound

Filed under: Marlins, Royals, MLB TransactionsA couple of days ago I told you about a possible deal in the works between the Kansas City Royals and the Cleveland Indians. In the proposed trade, the Indians would get Mark Teahen and the Royals would get back one of three outfielders from the Tribe. The deal hasn't gone through yet, though there's been no words that talks have broken off, so it could just be that the Royals are busy working on other deals. Like the one that just sent Leo Nunez to the Marlins for first baseman Mike Jacobs. The Royals acquired power-hitting first baseman Mike Jacobs from the ...

I'm not sure what it is either, but it has to be something! Today, the first day of the 2009 Hot Stove League, Dayton Moore of the Kansas City Royals completed a trade with Larry Beinfest of the Florida Marlins that would send Leo Nunez in exchange for Mike Jacobs. A confusing trade, when one considers the logjam of first base/designated hitters that the Royals currently have on their 40-man roster. Because of this logjam-as well as depth within the minor league ranks of the organization-it appears obvious that Moore is setting up pieces for what could be a major move. Consider that the Royals 40-man roster currently has the likes of Kila ...

Sources say the Milwaukee Brewers will hire former Oakland skipper and former Jay Ken Macha as their new manager. In other news, rumoured Jays trade target Mike Jacobs has been dealt from Florida to Kansas City and Detroit is not picking up the option on Edgar Renteria.

While I pondered a World Series where a J.C. (Juan Carlos Romero) beat a J.P. (James Phillip Howell) twice and wondered why a J.A. (James Anthony Happ) wasn't given a shot, I decided to move on to next season. I debate the efficacy of posting links to offseason moves since there are a lot of readers who just monitor websites seemingly 24/7 waiting to see which players on the Nationals are having their options declined. But for today.... Ken Macha ...

I was a little bit sad when the Brad Lidge struck out Eric Hinske last night, ending the 2008 MLB season. It just kind of sucks when you realize that no more baseball will be played on your television until April. Bah. However, the silver lining (and it is a very bright silver lining) is that we all get to speculate on off-season roster moves right up until then. Good times.
The 2008 season has been done for one day and we are already hearing trade rumblings and free agent chatter. One move has already reportedly been made and it has at least a little bit to do with the Detroit Tigers. Does that catch your attention?

In the first trade since the end of the World Series, the Kansas City Royals acquired first baseman Mike Jacobs from the Florida Marlins in exchange for relief pitcher Leo Nunez. This transaction has been panned throughout most of the baseball blogosphere. Dave Cameron, Keith Law, and Rob Neyer – highly respected analysts all – strongly believe that Florida got the better of Kansas City in this deal.
I'm not so sure about that. While I don't think KC general manager ...
