Ken Griffey throws a throat slash toward Jeff Brantley's booth
From the Dayton Daily News: Griffey is angry over different comments Brantley made and said one of them was, "He said I'm pouting because the Reds haven't picked up my option ($16 million) for next year. If I was that concerned about money I wouldn't have come here in the first place."

Despite different injuries over Griffey's career - He could have made much more money elsewhere.  You gotta love someone who does it for passion and only a couple of Million . . .  . .

Griffey vs. Brantley
Babes Love Baseball — ... Jr. implied he'd like to do just that, making the gesture toward the booth after nailing his 607th career homer. The Dayton Daily News thinks Griffey "is angry over different comments Brantley has made", like that one time Brantley said Junior was pouting over not having his option picked up for next season. Brantley might be a total boner, but two wrongs don't make a right. Let's try to keep that 20-year-old squeaky-clean image in tact, Griffey. Ken Griffey, Jr. Tosses Throat Slash To Jeff Brantley [MLB]
Deadspin — ... We've officially seen everything now. Griffey was evidently upset by comments Reds announcer Jeff Brantley made regarding his contract. Why after twenty years of relative peace, Griffey is breaking out late 90's football moves to make his points is anyone's guess. I guess he could do the Icky Shuffle but afterwords he'd probably go on the 15-day DL. ...

Griffey Throws A Throat Slash Gesture At Reds' Announcer Jeff Brantley
AwfulAnnouncing — ... about his hometown Reds, but most fans think his bashing has gone over-the-top as of late. He bashed Edwin Encarnacion for not being clutch (Edwin promptly hit a homer), he talks trash about Adam Dunn regularly, he said David Weathers didn't care whether he won or lost and now this. Between him and Marty Brennaman, they've got the announcer controversy on lockdown for this year. Can't Stop The Bleeding — ... “As much as (Jeff) Brantley might be baseball’s leading purveyor of hot air, that still doesn’t excuse Griffey making an on-field motion even more distasteful than Brantley’s mullet” scolds Yahoo Sports’ ‘Duk of claims Junior made ...

Kenny Williams: An Enigma Concealed In A Puzzle Wrapped In A Desperate Need To Bench Paul Konerko
Can't Stop The Bleeding — ... Intriguing. Early in ‘05 Williams came close to getting Griffey, which proves that at least one World Championship didn’t hinge on Junior’s input. But the bulk of the mystery lies in where to put him. The White Sox are more than set at left and right, and while Griffey would bring a welcome on-field impatience with irritating broadcasters, Ken Harrelson’s not the Ken that matters. Getting Konerko out of the lineup probably means putting Swisher at first and Griffey in center, but that’s a lot of gap for the creaky 38-year old to cover. A ...

Griffey Apologizes For Throat Slash
mlb.fanhouse.com 8/3/2008 — While I'm still getting used to seeing Ken Griffey Jr . in a Chicago White Sox jersey (the jersey looks good, though the number 17 just seems awkward), Junior is probably still adjusting to life inside the circus atmosphere of the White Sox ...
InGameNow Blog is Race-Baiting Ken Griffey Jr
juicedsportsblog.com 7/29/2008 — InGameNow blog says that the only reason Griffey hasn't been criticized more for his throat slashing gesture is the fact that he's black. Reverse race-baiting, my friends! Milton Bradley would be demolished by criticism if he did that. Griffey just has a better reputation.

Griffey - Brantley II: Return of the Throat SlashFanHouse
I don't know that there was ever an initial feud between Ken Griffey, Jr ., and Jeff Brantley , but it just seems like a sequel kind of Monday here, so I'm rolling with it. And apparently, Brantley doesn't think there was an initial feud either, as he is denying the comments that led to Griffey making the dreaded throat slashing gesture towards the announcing booth. And for those who can (or ...
Ken Griffey Jr. is an old guy with old-fashioned gesturesSports stories from Newsday
Uh, oh. Jeff Brantley is annoying the Reds again. This time it was Ken Griffey Jr., who celebrated a home run by bringing out an old-school throat-slash gesture aimed at the Cincinnati announcer. Yikes. Imagine the reaction around here if Jose Reyes had tried that on Keith Hernandez! (Did you notice how I did not mention that in 1984 I interviewed Jeff Brantley when he was a member ...
Brantley says Griffey sent 'death signal' from the dugoutBig League Stew
No, that's not a picture of Jeff Brantley wearing his  old Philies uniform and preparing to show Ken Griffey Jr. how he really feels ... but it may as well be. Kapa o Pango o Junior? That’s pretty much what Ken Griffey Jr. was mouthing to the radio booth Saturday night after he hit a home run. And for those who can (or those who can’t) read lips, yes, that was an epithet Griffey uttered as he make a cut gesture across his throat at home plate. It was aimed at radio broadcaster Jeff Brantley. “Oh, you saw that?” said Griffey. Yes, and so did the ...
Short HopsRedleg Nation
–Ken Griffey, Jr., made a “death gesture” at broadcaster Jeff Brantley after hitting a home run recently. It’s awesome that Junior doesn’t like Brantley, because Jeff Brantley is, by far, the worst broadcaster the Reds have ever had (at least, during my lifetime). He’s just awful. (And this isn’t the first time Brantley has had issues like this.) I ...
