Khalil Greene To Go House Hunting
wrigleyville23 — The New York Post says the Padres will be trading Khalil Greene soon. The expectation is that Greene will be moved even before the Winter Meetings start in Las Vegas on Monday. The sources who revealed that the 29-year-old will be dealt did not divulge to which team. But the Orioles and Cardinals are among a small group of clubs that is working hard to find a shortstop. Greene A Redbird
Friar Forum — The Padres and St Louis Cardinals are moving quickly towards a deal that would send Khalil Greene to the Cards in exchange for two unknown relief pitchers. The Padres became disenchanted with their former first round (13th overall) pick in 2008, watching the long haired shortstop struggle at the plate with a myriad of batting stances. The Friars are (stop me if you've heard this before) trying to shave payroll and Khalil's $6.5M won't fit into their shrinking budget. The slick fielding Greene quickly became a fan favorite with his remarkable ...

Miller Down, Greene Next?
C70 At The Bat — ... And, after days of no news at all, wouldn't you know you'd get Miller done and then apparently swing a trade for Khalil Greene.  I'm writing this close to midnight, so by time morning's light comes we may know if it's a completely false report or if it's actually a done deal, but let's assume there's some fire for the smoke. ...

Spicoli a Card?
Future Redbirds — The NY Post is saying Khalil Greene has been traded to the Cardinals for two relief prospects. The SD Union-Trib confirms. Given this is a salary dump for the Padres and Greene is coming off his worst season as a big leaguer, I’m not expecting them to be trading our best relief prospects, read: Perez, Motte, Reifer. At least I hope not Reifer. I’m guessing it’s someone like Mark Worrell, Fernando Salas, Francisco Samuel or maybe Luis Perdomo, who was oddly unprotected from the Rule 5 draft. Greene will be glad ...
