Kidd traded, Jose going to New Orleans??
Published 2/13/2008 by Cuzzy at Cuzoogle
Kidd’s trade at least allows the NBA to undo a grave injustice. Voted in as a starter in the East, Kidd would now presumably suit up with the West on Sunday.
To fill his vacated spot, the league could tab Toronto point guard Jose Calderon, whose ridiculous efficiency was somehow overlooked by Eastern Conference coaches when they chose the reserves. It would be a poetic justice, as it was Kidd’s selection as a starter that effectively cost Calderon a much-deserved spot in the first place. — Hollinger

Jason Kidd Trade Is a Bad One for Dallas

After Mark Cuban just the other day said he wouldn't trade away half his team for Jason Kidd, it appears that he's done (or is on the verge of doing) exactly that. With the Lakers and Suns making huge additions -- both literally and figuratively -- to their rosters, it seems like Dallas just wasn't willing to wait and see if their roster, once healthy, could compete with these clubs for a title. Sure the Mavericks have their share of issues, but as I see it, the addition of Kidd doesn't help to solve any of them.

Quick thoughts on Kidd
Published 2/13/2008 by mgrange at The Globe and Mail - From Deep
Some quick thoughts before the Jay Triano’s brilliant game plan makes Jason Kidd a non-factor tonight as the --- oh, Kidd might not be playing. In case you haven’t heard, the Nets have or are about to trade Kidd to the Dallas Mavericks for Devin Harris and a bunch of stuff. John Hollinger makes a pretty good case why this was a bad idea, but having seen Kidd in the playoffs just a year ago against Toronto, you have to think he can make an impact on the Mavericks. An interesting side note is that this deal might pave the way for Jose Calderon being added to the Eastern Conference all-star team, presuming Kidd would play for the West on Sunday. We’ll see. Bruce Arthur of the ...
Kidd trade is risky business for Mavs

ESPN: The Lakers must be falling over with laughter by now.
In the wake of their acquisition of Pau Gasol — a trade that cost them nothing of value — two of their biggest rivals for Western Conference supremacy responded by dealing key pieces of their core for Eastern Conference legends in their mid-30s. First, of course, came Phoenix’s deal for Shaquille O’Neal last week, and now the Mavericks have jumped in with today’s close-to-completion deal for Jason Kidd.
This isn’t nearly as bad as the Shaq ...
Jason Kidd trade reaction
Published 2/14/2008 by Chip's Moody Blues at Uwe Blog
Just some good and bad opinions about the Jason Kidd trade that may or may not happen. Whatever. Richie Whitt ain't a fan. I can now say I actually agree with Whitt about something. Oddly, a guy I always agree with (David Moore) thought the Mavs had no choice. Chris Broussard looks like Chris Arnold and loves the trade. John Hollinger dislikes the trade. Thinks the Mavs are farther from the Finals than closer and sees the Lakers' front office chuckling. Tim Cowlishaw makes a bold statement: The Mavs probably won't win it all with Kidd, but at least they have a shot. Thanks, Tim. Really. Grandpa Urine reminisces. Sports Sturm likes the change. Mavs Money Ball hates it. SI says virtually nothing. New ...
The Day After

I decided to take a mini-breather today with all the Jason Kidd madness as yesterday was pretty crazy and really nothing has been said today. If you want to know what other media outlets are saying, Henry Abbott over at True Hoop has a nice round-up of links going. As for the "big guys", John Hollinger and Chris Broussard have slightly differing opinions on the trade. Hollinger's take (ESPN Insider): In the final analysis, then, it seems Dallas gave up quite a bit to make what is, even with the most rose-colored glasses, a marginal upgrade at the point. It's possible it could work, but my issue with this deal is that the risk and reward seem out of line. Much like Phoenix with the Shaq deal, I can't help but wonder if the Mavs are fixated on what Kidd was 18 months ago rather than what he'll be over the next 18 ...
