Because Malik Rose is a former favorite Spurs teammate of Cavs GM Danny Ferry, and his $7.1M salary ($7.6M next season) conformed to the NBA's trade guideline, the Knicks threw his name out there as bait in hopes of getting at least a nibble. They didn't see so much as a ripple.
