from Mlive, Wings forward Tomas Kopecky out for 4-6 months after suffering a partially torn left anterior cruciate ligament and a sprained MCL when he flipped over Columbus forward Manny Malhota in Thursday’s game, general manager Ken Holland said on Friday. After a two-week period to let the swelling go down, Kopecky will have surgery.

“Now it’s up to Mike (coach Babcock) to decide if he wants to use him,” Holland said.
Holland said the Wings have one more call-up from Grand Rapids available before the Griffins season is over and he’s deciding whether to bring somebody up for Sunday’s game against Chicago. He said Darren McCarty will play Sunday and Tomas Holmstrom will return from his groin injury.
