With Malice - An LA Lakers blog, news and opinions —
... From my perspective, it seemed that LA & Utah were competing to see who could throw the game away more completely. Fortunately for us Laker-fans, Utah prevailed in that battle. Both teams missed easy layups, and both teams had too many turnovers. Despite my prediction during the game over at Fanhouse’s live-blogging of the game that Kobe Bryant would go ‘off’ somewhere inside 9 minutes in the last quarter, Kobe didn’t shoot the ball once (tho he did get a few from the charity stripe). Maybe Kobe felt ‘off’ was quite literally meant. ...

- Pau Gasol did not push off on Okur. I actually thought he did push off, and exclaimed as much over at Fanhouse's live blog, and was relieved the foul wasn't called, but this ...
20secondtimeout.blogspot.com 5/12/2008 — Deron Williams had 29 points and 14 assists as his Utah Jazz beat the L.A. Lakers 123-115 in overtime to even their second round series at 2-2. Kobe Bryant finished with 33 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds but a back injury that he suffered early in the game got progressively worse and significantly hindered him down the stretch.
mvn.com 5/9/2008 — The Lakers head to Utah with a 2-0 lead in their best of seven series. So far the Lakers are undefeated in the play-offs, and are playing with that swagger that borders on over confidence. Other then a decided rebounding edge, Utah didn’t play their best ball in LA and are looking to get it back at home. Home is where they are 37-4, so the Lakers have their work cut out for them.
emptythebench.com 5/10/2008 — The Lakers got as close as 95-92 with just over three minutes left in the game when Derek Fisher, the team’s best free throw shooter, went 1-2 from the charity stripe. That miss, when both were really needed, was symbolic of the Lakers entire evening. The Purple and Gold was simply out of sync, looking nothing like the polished machine that controlled Game 2.
slamonline.com 5/15/2008 — by Marcel Mutoni I’ll keep this brief… -There are no great truths to be gleaned from the Laker victory in Game Five, except for maybe this: The Lakers, predictably fired up, came out and delivered the first series of punches and never trailed ...

emptythebench.com 5/8/2008 — The night had the definite possibility of going bad. Not only was I trying out a new place to watch Lakers games, but the Lakers seemed eminently capable of losing Game 2 after playing sloppily in Game 1. But sometimes, despite your well-founded fears, things work out. And on those nights, you have to be thankful and savor the moment.
lakersblog.latimes.com 5/8/2008 — The Lakers entered Wednesday night's Game 2 against Utah having never lost on a night where Kobe Bryant was presented with an MVP trophy. For that matter, the Lakers had yet to suffer a blemish during their playoff run, going a perfect 5-0. Both ...
thestartingfive.net 5/8/2008 — “The Lakers have looked them down and the Jazz need to dig in their heels and compete and show the Lakers that they think they can beat them. It’s almost like when you play golf against Tiger Woods and you’re getting ready to tee it up and you think, ‘I can play great tonight, but I still don’t think I can beat him.’ The Jazz are a good team, they’ve got to start playing with some ...

Kobe struggled with back spasms most of the game but still scored 33 points while adding 10 assists and eight rebounds. And just to round things out Lakers forward Ronny Turiaf ...
