... Kurt from Forum Blue and Gold examines the regular season meetings between the Spurs and the Lakers. He also adds: "There is something mentioned in several comments and stories â that Pau Gasol has played Tim Duncan tough through the years. Some say that dates all the way back to the 2004 Olympics when Gasol dominated Duncan. We'll see if it is true, but I tried to look back at the Spurs games against Memphis from this season where the two played and measured the +/-. I should note I don't know how much of the time Gasol was directly matched up ...

... is a pretty fantastic matchup between the two best teams in the league right now. Greg Popovich (sic) has seen the triangle enough to make him throw up at the site of it. He's going to have a very nauseating series. The modified triangle the Lakers have implemented with Kobe, Gasol, and Lamar Odom, with Odom as the lynch pin is absolutely devastating unless your defense is primed for it. Luckily, the Spurs have never met an offense they weren't primed for.Forum Blue and Gold previews the series by looking at the Spurs and Lakers regular season ...

So was Game 1 a monumental Spurs meltdown or an extraordinary Lakers comeback? Call it a meltback – one part meltdown, one part comeback. To pull off such a rally, in a tone-setting game of this magnitude, the Lakers definitely needed some help. Los Angeles got it in the fourth quarter when a tiring Spurs squad went 3 of 21 from the floor, including 1 of 9 from beyond the arc.Lakers comeback down by 20 to beat Spurs
