... The sub-head on my column this morning about Billy Gillispie's team-building was a bit misleading. The column did not say that UK's failure to hire Florida's Billy Donovan was best for the program. What column did say, or tried to say, was that despite this season's ups and downs, the way Gillispie had been able to get Kentucky to bond as a team spoke well for the program's future.

... I've been pretty lucky. My teams have won a Stanley Cup, a Super Bowl, and numerous World Series. But none of that, even being at Game Seven when the Lightning won the Cup, compares to when the Gators have won titles. That's what has made this year so hard. When the Bucs, Lightning, or Yankees played poorly, I had someone to throw under the bus (Jon Gruden, defensemen not named Boyle, Alex Rodriguez).
