TV and Movies Branson Wright of the Cleveland Plain Dealer lauds LeBron James ' Saturday Night Live host spot as " an impressive victory ." I'm not as convinced. Wright quotes Bob Costas remarking on LeBron's relative calm. Sure, LeBreezy was cooler than many guest hosts in most sketches. [link]

Not sure why I bothered to TiVo SNL in the first place--would've taken the comedic equivalent of 25 straight fourth quarter points for LBJ to save the show.  But Ziller gets it right: Awful writing, nervous LeBron, and total waste of time.

too many sketches where he 'played himself'

and too many about basketball, even with him as 'another' character

not much effort toward originality went into it at all

That show has sucked for 10-15 years. The only funny thing I've seen since Joe Montana hosted was the Peyton Manning skit. Where he was playing a pickup game with some kids, that was funny!

... LeBron on SNL: Some Kind of Disaster: During that monologue, LBJ had more yips than Dirk Nowitzki in the playoffs. And when you score at home, most of the skits were outright terrible. Blame it on the writing -- a lot of the jokes were just lame. But LeBron didn't provide much help on-screen. ...
