Not Quite The Start I Was Looking For
Published 7/4/2008 by Brian at Depressed Fan
Lester dominated the Yankees tonight. It was a sad sight to behold. Three double plays to kill the pitiful attempts at rallies the Yanks put together. Melky and Cano had two hits apiece, Jeter added the fifth in the ninth. There isn't much more to say about this one. ...
Lester Lays the Hammer on Yanks
Published 7/4/2008 by Mike at Green Pinstripes
... Andy Pettitte didn't have it for the first time in weeks, Derek Jeter made a costly error and Jon Lester spun a complete game five-hitter as the Red Sox whipped the Yanks 7-0 in the Bronx. The BoSox jumped ahead with two runs in the first and two more in the second and coasted to their first victory in six games. The Bombers reverted to their punchless offensive ways just one night removed from an 18-run outburst. Girardi had a closed-door session with his team after the loss, and judging by the beginning of this clip (3m, 49s), ...

A little good, a little bad, one day they hit, next day they don't, they pitch, don't pitch, up, down, left, right. I think it's at the point where I'm beyond getting too worked up about it. At least, until the next time Heilman or Wagner or whoever blows a late lead, or the Mets lose a game 3-1, getting 4 hits and looking lifeless. Last night, ...

... Impressive Start. Jon Lester became the first Boston pitcher to throw a complete-game shutout (7-0) against the Yankees since Pedro Martinez in 2000. This was also Lester's first appearance at Yankee Stadium. ...
