Minnesota Twins' youngster Francisco Liriano, who hasn't faced MLB opponents in 18 months, threw 40 pitches today in 1 2/3 innings. He said he felt no pain whatsoever, and buckled Manny Ramirez with a change-up for a strikeout. [link]

I am not sure we should actually be calling this an afternoon delight as the Boston Red Sox split-squad teams did not fare well on either coast of Florida. On the right coast of Florida, the Red Sox got shellacked by the Orioles while on the left coast the Twins put a beating on the Sox as well.
