EAGLES BLUFFING ON LITO?
Published 4/16/2008 by Mike Florio at ProFootballTalk.com
On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Eagles apparently used the release of the 2008 regular-season schedule as a way to drum up trade interest in veteran cornerback Lito Sheppard. Speaking to the media on Tuesday afternoon, Eagles president Joe Banner addressed Sheppard’s status , suggesting that the Eagles might end up keeping Sheppard, after all. Banner says that there is “significant interest” in Sheppard, but that, as of right now, “the best thing to do is keep him.” “You don’t see many 26-year-old Pro Bowl players who there is even a possibility of acquiring,” Banner said.  “If ...

The Eagles situation is ripe for a trade
Published 4/16/2008 by FreeseDogg at Poor Sports: Bitter Philly Sports Fans Sound Off
What do you get when you combine one unhappy pro-bowl WR on a team desperate for a defense with a team with 3 pro-bowl CBs looking to add a legit WR weapon? Well, I'm not sure, but it looks like that's the situation with the Eagles and Bengals. Yesterday, Banner said that the Eagles were looking to hold onto Lito going into the draft. Today's news might change his tune. Chad Johnson has demanded a trade before the upcoming draft. Considering most experts are guessing that the Eagles will look to draft a WR in the first day, it's not unreasonable to ...

EAGLES EMBRACE NEW TRADE CHART?
Published 4/17/2008 by Mike Florio at ProFootballTalk.com
When we got our mitts on the new draft trade chart that’s making the rounds in league circles, we were told that roughly eleven teams and counting are planning to use it as of 2008. One of those teams apparently is the Philadelphia Eagles. Earlier this week, Eagles president Joe Banner publicly commented on the revisions to the chart, which teams have been using since the 1990s.“There is no question that the dynamic of the first round has changed very dramatically ,” Banner said.  “There is no question, in my mind at least, that the old system is no longer applicable for trades ...

If Bengals acquire/draft a cornerback, it will be late
Published 4/21/2008 by Kirkendall <info@cincyjungle.com> at Cincy Jungle: Front Page Posts
... Sheppard is a fine player, no doubt. However, the Eagles have sat on Sheppard playing other NFL teams for the best return, most likely a first round pick. And whether it's to increase Sheppard's value or the realization that having Sheppard team with Asante Samuel might be the team's best course, it would seem that the Eagles are content holding onto him. ...
