EAGLES BLUFFING ON LITO?
Published 4/16/2008 by Mike Florio at ProFootballTalk.com
On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Eagles apparently used the release of the 2008 regular-season schedule as a way to drum up trade interest in veteran cornerback Lito Sheppard. One of those teams apparently is the Philadelphia Eagles. Earlier this week, Eagles president Joe Banner publicly commented on the revisions to the chart, which teams have been using since the 1990s.“There is no question that the dynamic of the first round has changed very dramatically ,” Banner said. “There is no question, in my mind at least, that the old system is no longer applicable for trades ...

... Sheppard is a fine player, no doubt. However, the Eagles have sat on Sheppard playing other NFL teams for the best return, most likely a first round pick. And whether it's to increase Sheppard's value or the realization that having Sheppard team with Asante Samuel might be the team's best course, it would seem that the Eagles are content holding onto him. ...
