Second base is a big time revolving door. Willie Harris (.248, 4, 15) could start there as well as the outfield, while Ronnie Belliard (.185, 2, 8) and Alberto Gonzalez (.309, 1, 7) could start there too. Wil Nieves has been splitting time with Bard since Jesus Flores went down. Austin Kearns (.196, 3, 16) is also still somehow on that bench. Elijah Dukes was optioned to AAA Saturday.

Hinch said his 6-year-old daughter, Halley, is using her alloted computer time each day to vote for Mark, and in the clubhouse before batting practice, he was showing Luke Carlin how to vote... ... The offense didn't make any real effort to dig the team out of the hole in which Mulvey and Augenstein had placed them. The Diamondbacks came within one out of going another game hitless with runners in scoring position, before Chris Young singled home Luke Carlin in the bottom of the ninth. That was one of two hits for Young, who could quite conceivably be the best player in the National League over the past week, having gone 8-for-21 with five home-runs. It also gets his season average up to .202 - it's been any higher after only six games since April. ...

AZ Snakepit —
... Unless Snyder is traded, John Hester will likely be stashed down in Reno, inside a case stating "In case of emergency, break glass." At the present time, he won't be expected to see playing time otherwise, but didn't disgrace himself in his brief major-league stint last season, and seems like a credible enough third option, or even an occasional back-up should Snyder depart. I doubt he'd be much worse offensively than Luke Carlin, who occupied the same slot at the start of 2009. ...
