Madden: Steaming Hank Steinbrenner lights fire while threatening to burn some bridges Taking a break from disecting Sylvia Froos records for The Vitaphone Project...Madden talks to Hank Steinbrenner. This is what the new “Hammerin’ Hank” had to say to me Wednesday when I reached him in Tampa with the greeting: “How ‘bout those Rays!”: “They’re a great story down here right now,” he said, “although it’s terrible that they’re only drawing only 16,000 a game. Hank Is Delusional
Published 5/15/2008 by Moshe Mandel at The Bronx Block
After Hank Steinbrenner’s little rant yesterday, I opined that, Does he really think the players are going to read the quotes and say, “You know what, I really have not been trying. Hank has  motivated me to improve.” If so , then he is quite delusional. Well, I guess Hank is in fact that misguided and conceited. Last night, he told Bill Madden,  I know we’re gonna come on at some point in this season, but right now, other than (Chien-Ming) Wang, (Mariano) Rivera, (Derek) Jeter, (Hideki) Matsui, (Johnny) ...

Are We Seeing the Beginning of the End for Brian Cashman?
Published 5/15/2008 by Josh Alper at FanHouse
... didn't resume falling into Yankee laps so, with his contract expiring after the season, will Cashman get more time if they don't earn a ring this season? It's starting to look pretty unlikely. Hank Steinbrenner's regular missives in the media make it clear that he wants to be the same kind of figurehead that his father was and part of that could be erasing Cashman from the equation. He followed up yesterday's comments about forcing changes next year in an interview with Bill Madden of the New York Daily News. "But while I'm confident ...

Of the Yankees’ 20-21 start, Hank Steinbrenner tells the Daily News’ Bill Madden, “What bothers me is that these guys are all working for me and my brother and they’re all making more money than we are. That’s what makes me mad. But while I’m confident they’ll come around, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens this year. And if they don’t come around then changes will have to be made. I’ve just got to clean up the mistakes of the last five years and make us what we should be.” ...
