Receiver Mario Manningham, the Giants’ third-round draft pick, officially signed a contract this afternoon and will be in camp on time when the players report to the University at Albany on July 24. The Giants haven’t settled their contract issues with Plaxico Burress but they will have Mario Manningham on the field when training camp starts on July 24th. The third-round draft pick out of Michigan officially signed a contract with the team today, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News . The report did not have any information about the financial terms of the deal nor did it outline the length of the contract. Giants and Brandon Jacobs Not Close To Long-Term Deal

It appears the big running back will not be getting a contract extension before training camp opens on July 24. According to a league source familiar with negotiations between the two sides, the Giants have had several conversations with Jacobs’ agents, but “nothing is close and nothing is expected to get done before camp starts.”
