As of 11:17pm PT, not official. As the article title actually reads, "Sources: Manny, Dodgers close in".

This is the Dodgers, Boras, and Manny. Probably a done deal, but haven't we all learned that it's done when it's actually done with these guys?

At the time I posted this, the headline said Manny Officially a Dodger. That was at rouglhy 9:15 EST. By 9:30, the ESPN article and main page headline had chnaged all the wording to 'close' instead of 'official.'

Manny a Dodger
MLB Notebook - Major League Baseball New, Notes, and Analysis — According to ESPN After multiple failed attempts, Ramirez accepted a two-year, $45 million deal with the Dodgers on Tuesday. Agent Scott Boras didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment. The Dodgers announced last week that Boras had declined the team's fourth offer to the star outfielder -- a one-year, $25 million contract with a $20 million player option for 2010. The outfielder is expected to travel to Los Angeles on Tuesday night. Ramirez would then report to the Dodgers' spring training camp in Arizona. ...

Manufactured Manny Melodrama Mercifully Moot
Walkoff Walk — I was driving in my car listening to something called the Petros and Money Show when they announced that ESPN was reporting that The Dodgers were going to sign Manny to a 2 year $45M contract. I pondered the informational disconnect and I pondered why on earth I was listening to sports talk radio. I pulled into my destination. I made some popcorn with shakeable Cholula seasoning and I reveled in the fact that we don't have to talk about Manny or Frank McCourt for the rest of the Spring.

Our long national Manny Ramirez nightmare is over. (Or is it?)
Mets Geek — ... The strange, seemingly unending courtship between Manny Ramirez and the Los Angeles Dodgers has finally reached its conclusion. Report: Manny, Dodgers near deal
Extra BasesESPNdeportes.com's Enrique Rojas reported tonight that free-agent outfielder Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers have agreed to "general terms" on a two-year, $45 million contract. However, according to ESPN.com's Jayson Stark, some obstacles still remain before the deal is completed. The outfielder is expected to travel to Los Angeles on Tuesday night before reporting to the Dodgers' spring training camp in Arizona, according to ESPN.com. The site had originally posted a story that a deal was complete, but quickly changed it with the new information above.

ESPN.com Backpedals On Ramirez Signing Report
SPORTSbyBROOKS — ... ink was already dry on the deal. The reason? The original report at ESPN.com - on the same website page, had been edited to indicate the deal had been agreed upon. So why wasn’t Crasnick convinced from the start? One of the initial versions of the report contained the hedge, “A source told ESPN.com that obstacles still remain to completing the contract.“  ESPN.com subsequented reported that Ramirez  “may have changed his mind” and Ramirez agent Scott Boras told Jayson Stark that the deal isn’t done . Boras: “We are in discussions and we have no deal in place .” And about ...

Tyler's Take On Sports — ... , but there was only one legitimate team in the Manny Sweepstakes all along--Los Angeles. Thus, it was clear that no team was going to match the Dodgers' offer financially, which is why the news, reported late Tuesday by ESPNDeportes, is hardly a surprise. Alleged mystery teams aside, Ramirez would have been forced to accept a reduced rate had he signed elsewhere; the law of supply and demand is a fairly simple concept. With a glut of power-hitting, defensively challenged hitters available and the economy driving down prices, the market did not unfold as well as the super agent ...

Reports: Manny Ramirez likely to sign with Dodgers
Red Sox Monster — ... . Numerous media reports in the last few hours say that Manny Ramirez is flying back to Los Angeles to meet Dodgers officials after agreeing to general terms with the team. ESPN Deportes initially reported at about 8 p.m. that Manny has agreed to a two-year, $45 million deal, which sure looks an awful lot like one of the deals he and supposed super agent Scot Boras had already rejected. As a Red Sox fan, it's worth noting that when Manny was traded, it was in part because he wasn't happy with the two $20 million club options left on his contract. So he burned a few bridges, ...

Dangerously Close to A Manny Deal... Key Word: Dangerously
BostonsportZ — ... In either way, the caveat to this whole deal happens to be the biggest piece of… problem in baseball. According to Simers, Manny has taken it upon himself to adjust his demands to reflect the current economic landscape, and even went so far as to say, “two years is fine with me.” Clearly, Scott Boras was asleep at the wheel when that call was made. When the super-agent came to, he made sure that ESPN.com’ Jerry Crasnick knew that there was no deal in place, setting the scene for another epic Boras-style fast one. Come to think of it, Boras should ...

Baseball Analysts — We've made it to March and although the baseball season is right around the corner, the story lines still don't get all that interesting.
