Manu is the Man as Spurs Eliminate Hornets Links4
After Gregg Popovich moved Manu Ginobili into the starting lineup, San Antonio won four of five games versus the Hornets. Ginobili scored a game-high 26 points in the clincher, including 11 points in the final 3:09 of the first half as the Spurs took the lead for good. Chris Paul was officially credited with 14 assists in game seven but only nine of them fit the literal definition of an assist. [link]

West pump faked Oberto off of his feet, took four dribbles, made a spin move into the paint, came to a jump stop, did an up and under ...

I know, I know, how dare question the merits of CP3 but David Friedman of 20 Second Timeout has done so and who am I to disagree with this attentive, dedicated analysis. This doesn't diminish the ridiculous talents of the game's best point guard, but perhaps we should simmer on the jaw-dropping of his assist output. Mr. Friedman broke down all of Paul's 14 game seven assists: ...

... : Interesting stuff from David Friedman over at 20 Second Timeout. He figures the scorekeepers are very generous when crediting players with assists, and cites Paul's 14 dimes last night, only 9 of which Friedman claims were legitimate. Here's his description of an "assist" by CP in the first quarter... ...
