So Saturday night, while Denny Hamlin was winning the Nationwide, I got all cleaned up and put on a tie to attend the induction ceremonies of the Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame. ... There was the usual silent auction and chicken dinner, and the speeches were, for the most part, enjoyable and brief. Bartkowski still has that baddest-cat-in-the-room quarterback swagger, Elliott was gracious enough to pop in even though he would be racing in Delaware eighteen hours later (more here), Humphrey looked big enough to knock down any man in the room, Suggs at 84 was still fiery as hell, Schuerholz was typically gracious and self-deprecating, and Moses apparently made up for the short amount of time he was on the track each race by taking a monster slice of time on ...
