March Madness: Can UCLA Win With Slumping Offense?

As the UCLA Bruins prepare to play the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in the sweet 16 on Thursday, their offense seems to be playing in a different time zone.

They beat the Texas A&M Aggies, in the second round, by two points and junior Darren Collison and freshman Kevin Love combined for 40 of the teams' 51 points.  Take either one out of the picture and UCLA is planning their off-season.

Can the Bruins really keep up this pace?  They are getting very little help offensively from the rest of the team which means Love and Collison can't have an off night.  Senior Josh Shipp has scored a total of six points in two games and sophomore Russell Westbrook has scored only 14 points in that same span.

They were averaging more then 12 points per game during the regular season, so UCLA needs more out of them.  The last thing Shipp needs is to go out struggling from the field.

The one thing keeping the PAC-10 champs moving on is their defense.  Kevin Love had seven blocks and held the Aggies to 49 points.

As the Bruins look ahead to the Champions from the Sun Belt Conference, they better have a plan to stop the senior tandem of Courtney Lee and Tyrone Brazelton.  The duo is averaging 23 points per game together and would love nothing more then to knock off the top seeded Bruins.
