Raul Ibanez To Decline Arbitration
MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com — Raul Ibanez will decline arbitration today, according to Larry LaRue of the Tacoma News Tribune blog. Says LaRue, "The Phillies, Cubs, Mets, Rays, Yankees and a half-dozen other teams are pursuing Ibanez, who last year made $5.5 million. He wants a multi-year contract, and the Mariners weren’t in position to offer him one." LaRue praises Ibanez for his work ethic and propensity to challenge, in a positive way, both young and veteran players in the clubhouse. ...

Two Draft Picks Ahoy!
Lookout Landing — ... Larry LaRue says today that Raul Ibanez will decline arbitration, further noting that ten teams are interested in signing Raul. The rest of the story is typical Raul fluff, but hey, now that we don't have to deal with his defense anymore, it doesn't raise my ire. ...

Rumors literally out of left field: Raul Ibañez
River Avenue Blues — ... According to Larry LaRue, one of the sports writers at the Tacoma-based News Tribune, the Yanks are one of ten teams interested in Raul Ibañez. This is an interesting, if random, rumor. Ibañez turns 36 in June and has put together three straight 20-HR, 100-RBI, 121+ OPS+ seasons while playing half of his games in Safeco Field. He would probably be a one- or two-year stop-gap, but whichever team signs him has to give up a draft pick. The Yanks could do a lot worse than Ibañez. I, however, don’t think much will come of this one. ...

So Long, Raul
Palm Ball NW/Bleeding Blue and TealLarry LaRue has the scoop.  Raul Ibanez will decline arbitration today. This was expected, but Buster Olney gave us all a bit of a scare on Friday. Raul will be missed by most Mariner fans.  He was an absolute class act, and someone that any team would be lucky to have as a clubhouse/community leader.  Farewell, friend. The Seattle Mariners will now officially be receiving two extra draft picks when Raul signs elsewhere, which is great for the future of this team. Beyond known suitors (Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs, New York Mets), ...

Zell's Pinstripe Blog — ... “I wasn’t going to brood over it. I try to be a positive person. I see a lot of guys who are negative and it doesn’t make them any happier.” ———————————–         According to the news tribune, the Yankees are one of the many teams that are pursuing Raul Ibanez. I really like Ibanez.  Raul’s 2008 stat line looked like this: .293AVG  23HR  110RBI  85R  2SB. In his last four seasons..he has had 20HR+. Raul Ibanez 162 Game Average: 160H  81R  21HR  93RBI  4SB  .286AVG  .346OBP  .472SLG Mariners and Raul Ibanez part ways again The Phillies, Cubs, Mets, Rays, Yankees and a ...

Yankees Interested in Raul Ibanez?
YanksBlog.comLarry LaRue of Washington newspaper The News Tribune reports that the Yankees are one of several teams interested in free agent outfielder Raul Ibanez. Ibanez turned down salary arbitration offered by the Mariners and, as a Type A free agent, would cost the Yankees a draft pick if signed. LaRue notes that he earned $5.5 million last year and is looking for a multi-year deal. He'll be 36 in June. Unless the Yankees are planning to trade a corner outfielder or play Damon in center, I don't think Ibanez makes much sense. He has put together solid, if not spectacular numbers, ...
