Jason Barnes is no fool - attacking while Shaq was on the floor and Artest was on the bench.
Rockets vs. Suns Fight!
Robert Littal Presents The Infamous BlackSportsOnline —
I always believe the NBA is one of the few sports that needs a good fight for folks to pay attention at least these days. However when NBA players get into a brawl they are considered "thugs" while in any other sports its considered a good thing. Its obvious Barnes and Alston will probably face a suspension. I think Nash and Shaq will skate seeing as how they are big names and Stern likes them. T-Mac might get fined though. I rate this fight a 5 on a 10 point scale because it really wasn't much of a fight I found myself laughing at how lame it was. The ironic thing about this particular ...
Rockets Suns Fight, Matt Barnes Cheap Shots Rafer Alston
FanIQ Blog —
During the Suns/Rockets game on Wednesday night, a full scale brawl was started by Ron Arte...wait, Artest wasn't involved? You sure about that? Well, I guess there's a first time for everything.
Anyway, Matt Barnes, who I very much enjoyed for his awesome cheap shots during his Warriors days, decided to go out of his way to thump Rafer Alston when the Suns were down by 19 in the third. Alston naturally didn't care very much for that. Pretty soon Steve Nash ran into the mix for some strange reason, and promptly wound up getting shoved to the ground by T-Mac.
T-Mac ...
Rockets Disappoint Suns 94-82, Barnes disappoints too
Bright Side Of The Sun —
Can there be a more disappointing team than the Rockets? Yes.
And today it was the Phoenix Suns by more than just 12 points. The Suns shot less than 36% on the night and generally stunk so bad that they could not get a George W. Bush on a night when Artest, Scola and Barry combined for 3-24. That was because Bell, Barbosa, Hill and Diaw combined for just 6-29 and Amare was held to 11 points for the night. Again, the Suns had another crappy night being outshot from 3. Hubie Brown noted the Suns did not get a single point in transition.

Matt Barnes ignites imbroglio with Rafer “Skip to my Lou” Alston.
Fear The Beard —
I miss Matt Barnes. And as a matter of fact his fiancee just gave birth to twins right here in the Bay Area. Crazier still, FTB reader “GSW Girl” had a sister giving birth down the hall. But with all of those good vibes gone come game time, apparently the “red mist” descended for Barnes in the Phoenix/Houston game earlier tonight. While I was indulging my newly registered NBA League Pass on the Clips/Kings matchup, Barnes decided to take some of the skip out of Rafer. This ignited some fireworks that even Nasty Nash put his crooked nose into the middle of. Not ...
Video: Houston Rockets-Phoenix Suns Fight/Shoving Match
You Been Blinded - Now in Dazzling HD —
Matt Barnes of the Phoenix Suns gave a cheap shot to Rafer “Skip to My Lou” Alston of the Houston Rockets leading the two teams to get into a mini-scuffle. Tracy McGrady pushed down Steve Nash, Shaq pushed down T-Mac, and when the refs restored order Matt Barnes and Rafer Alston were ejected. ...
Rockets and Suns engage in a fight/shoving match
Sports Crackle Pop —
Last night in the NBA was pretty eventful The Houston Rockets went into Phoenix and defeated the Suns, but the bigger story was the shoving match that ensued near the end of the third quarter. With his team down close to 20 points, Matt Barnes looked frustrated and shoved Rafer Alston on a screen. To which the NYC product took exception and got in Barnes face. As Yao tried to keep peace, Steve Nash comes barreling in giving “Skip to my Lou” an elbow. Tracy McGrady shoves Nash and then Shaq starts shoving everyone.
While all this happened, Ron Artest was sitting on the bench. ...
Speed Read: Nash Brawls While Artest Spectates
SPORTSbyBROOKS —
The NBA. Where Matt Barnes flattening Rafer Alston with a forearm happens. We soon entered some sort of bizarro world in which Steve Nash is the third man in in a brawl while Ron Artest just observes from the bench. Then, for some reason, Yao decides to fight Tracy McGrady. It was just about the only entertainment in Houston’s suprisingly easy 94-82 win over the Suns.
Here’s video of the incident. It’s the Rockets’ TV broadcast, so of course everyone wearing a white jersey deserves to be shot, according to these ...

Houston Rockets vs Phoenix Suns Fight Video
The Critical Fanatic —
I suppose this would better be defined as a shoving match between the Suns and Rockets. The Houston Rockets scored an impressive 94-82 victory on the road in Phoenix Wednesday night, but not before the two teams got into a healthy skirmish. We’ve officially begun the NBA season. Matt Barnes gave Rafer Alston a mild cheap shot after a three-point attempt and the fight was on. Two highlights: 1) Steve Nash just pinballing his way into the pile and, 2) Yao Ming shoving Tracy McGrady to floor, then falling on top of him. Of course, it’s also hard to ignore Shaq shoving a group of 5-6 players and officials nearly down as well. Barnes and Alston were ejected, ...

Everybody Was Shaq Fu Fighting ... [NBA]
Deadspin —
A donnybrook in which Yao Ming squares off against Steve Nash, practically everyone else gets involved in the scuffling, and then Shaq runs in and starts throwing people around like Andre the Giant? Why didn't someone tell me that Wednesday's Rockets-Suns game was going to be so much fun? Video below. It all happened at the US Airways Center late in the third quarter, and began when Suns forward Matt Barnes lowered his shoulder rammed into Houston guard Rafer Alston, who was setting a high screen. Alston came back to confront Barnes in the middle of the floor, and ... wait, is that Steve Nash's entrance music? Nash suddenly shows up and ...
About the NBA Last Night: Greg Oden, Fights, Last Second Shot
Hail Mary Jane —
So last night was an exciting night for NBA fans eh?
First, the greatest player never to play a full NBA game, Greg Oden, finally got through a whole game.
Wow!
He scored 3 points and grabbed 2 boards in 16 minutes of work. Not too impressive but here was 1 of those rebounds and 2 of those points on one play.
If that wasn't exciting enough for you, things got a little ugly during the Rockets 94-82 victory over the Suns. Matt Barnes and Rafer Alston got into it after a cheap shot from Barnes. They were both ejected but something tells me this won't be the last we hear ...

Another Definition for “Road Beef”
Intentional Foul —
The phrase “road beef,” especially among the world of professional athletics, refers to a certain type of woman that’s available to athletes during long road trips. Normally, this type of relationship begins in depths of strip clubs and is only rekindled when the player’s team is on the road. However, thanks to the Phoenix/Houston game last night, there’s also another definition for road beef: when a team goes on the road and gets involved in a near-fracas with the host team.

First rule of fight club. . .
The Other World Wide Leader in Sports —
Matt Barnes fought a little to hard through the Rafer Alston's screen and Skip let him know about it. A little pushing and shoving occurred afterward but this was far from the "brawl" the mainstream media is making it out to be. Is it me or does it seem like anytime some brothers get into a little disagreement it's blown waaaaay out of proportion? Anyway that's another question for another day just watch the the video and judge for yourself and comment cuz I know you're reading. Google Analytics is snitching on y'all ...

Tracy is Such a Sweetheart, He Would NEVER Do Anything Like That!
Hardwood Paroxysm —
The verdict is in from the PHX-HOU catfight: Rafer and Barnes will be sitting out two games apiece, while Nash will rest his back for one. McGrady and Shaq were fined a paltry sum, and that's where things get a little fishy. Not the "OMG THE NBA IS FIXED!!!!!" kind of fishy. Nunathat. But how is it that McGrady got away with a slap on the wrist and a stern talking to when the rest of the crew will be sitting out games? Take a look at the video: I'm not arguing with the other suspensions. Barnes laid into Alston, and Rafer charged after him. Nash rushed the mass ...
NBA Suspends Nash, Barnes, Alston
LABallTalk.com —
I have been waiting to hear about the result of this altercation for a while now. I knew there was no chance that there would be no response. As i expected, the league has announced various suspensions and fines. The person that started the altercation was none other than Phoenix Suns Forward Matt Barnes. Barnes threw out a dirty screen and shove on Rafer Alston. Alston, formerly known as Skip To My Lou, of course it’s the one guy that use to play streetball that is involved, took exception to the dirty play. Rafer Alston got back up after he was shoved and got in the face of Barnes. The action escalated when McGrady tried to separate the two and Steve Nash ...
Nash Suspended for Getting Punched in the Face! Good Job Stern and Jackson!
The Hoop Doctors —
November 14, 2008 - Dr. Dime
Good Job NBA, Good Job David Stern, Good Job Stu Jackson. You just proved that collectively you have no clue as to the dynamics of a melee or even a simple fight. You have no idea about the principles of camaraderie, being a good teammate, or even personal integrity and pride. You are doing your best to breed players who run away from fights and sit back and watch as their teammates are hung out to dry. ...
