sooze +3My favorite quote? "I have and do partake in smoking weed." -
AEM What stinks about all of this is that we will have another round of hearings from Washington D.C. about this and that and in the end they won't amount to much!

Patrick I admit to onseason marijuana use. -
fastbreakblog NBA players using marijuana. I am shocked, disappointed and can't beleive it. What's next? That they palm and walk? -
meech.one Howard continued, "You ever see the back of a twenty dollar bill... on weed? Oh, there's some crazy shit, man. There's a dude in the bushes. Has he got a gun? I dunno! RED TEAM GO, RED TEAM GO." -
truthaboutit People need to get over it....we live in a hypocritical society.
I'm sure people are aware of the new movie, Super High Me (a la Super Size Me) where I guy smokes out 24/7 for 30 days.
At the end, the guy experienced little negative side-effects, outside of doing a little worse on some math tests and gaining 8 pounds.
Yet....alcohol is legal....but if someone binge drank for 30 days, you could pretty much bet that they would be dead.

sooze Furthermore, I'm not sure Michael Irvin has any room to question another man's drug use...

Josh Howard gets high in the offseason.
Published 4/25/2008 by Russ Bengtson at SLAM Online
... In an interview with Michael Irvin (!!!) on Dallas’s ESPN radio affiliate, Mavs All-Star Josh Howard admitted to smoking marijuana in the offseason. He went on to say that “I think that everybody in the media world and in the sports world knows that NBA players do smoke marijuana.” While this is true, I’m not sure whether it was a great idea to bring it up on the radio during the playoffs. ...
49ers Donald Strickland arrested for running from the police

... I don’t even want to analyze this, but what kind of timing was this? The 49ers don’t need any distractions, especially with Mike Nolan’s tolerance of bad behavior. Don’t know what kind of punishment Strickland would get, if any, but this just wasn’t good timing. A day before the draft the team cannot afford to have distractions like this. The NBA’s Josh Howard was dumb enough to cause a distraction while his team is in the playoffs . This just isn’t a good day to let your problems surface to the public. Coming up next, I’ll put up an open discussion thread for the draft. There, ...

... lightning rod via his show on ESPN Radio in Dallas. Last month, Irvin provided a three-hour platform for cornerback Pacman Jones. Former Bengals receiver Chris Henry has reportedly reached out to Irvin about appearing on the show. The Playmaker, whose stellar football career was plagued by off-field problems such as drug use, provided a platform on Friday for Dallas Mavericks forward Josh Howard to admit that he smokes marijuana in the offseason. Specifically, Howard admitted to “ smoking weed in the offseason sometimes ,” and described it as his “personal choice and personal ...

Dirk Nowitzki was in MVP form, notching a game-high 32 points and 19 rebounds, and helping to hold David West to only 14 points off 6-of-20 shooting. Jason Kidd had some spring in his step as well, contributing eight points, 11 rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks. Josh Howard added 18 but shot only 5-of-16 amid some pre-game scrutiny over his public admission of his affinity for smoking marijuana during the offseason. ...

The Dallas Mavericks Should Not Be Ashamed
Published 4/26/2008 by Rob Mahoney at Upside and Motor
... The first time I heard word of Howard's remarks concerning his off-season marijuana use, the first thoughts that entered my mind were: "Why would he say something like that? And why now -- with Dallas up against the ropes? Generic response to controversial issue, etc. etc." I actually feel a bit ashamed. If you had asked me two days ago if I thought marijuana had a large presence among NBA players, I would've most definitely agreed. It's naive to think otherwise, and a demonstration of irresponsible journalism to write otherwise. It should come as no shock to us that ...

... Man, I will say this for Dukes: he does seem like he’s more than willing to work his way out of the probation. First off, not many athletes have the discipline to stay off the weed — certainly we know that’s the case with Josh Howard. And much more than the dank, it takes a lot for an athlete to swallow his pride and clean up freaking rhinoceros dung — I’m not sure if I’d even do it. I hope for his sake that much like the cages, he’s cleaned up his life, and ready to go back to playing ball. Would be ...

... Surprise! The Dallas Mavericks lost (on the road!) to the New Orleans Hornets 98-94, thus ending the 2007-08 season. Now, Josh Howard can get as high as a kite. Not a surprise, as much. Pretty much expected. The Mavericks aren't very good and the Hornets are pretty good. Typically, when good teams play bad teams, the good team wins, at least four out of five games. It's disappointing, but not heartbreaking. No, that kind of pain and agony was imposed on fans the last two years. This team just wasn't very good, old, really. Always 10 steps behind and ...
