Mavs To Sign Eddie Jones

Jeff Caplan is reporting that the Mavs have reached a two-year deal with 13-year veteran Eddie Jones. The Mavs are expected to use their $1.83 bi-annual exception for the first year of the deal. Jones turns 36 before the season and played in 64 games last season between the Grizzles and Heat. He averaged 7.7 points per game last season, 9.6 while playing with the Heat at the end of the season. Jones does bring experience and some outside shooting to the team although an experienced power forward (i.e. P.J. Brown or Chris Webber) might have fit the team better at this point since there seems to be a log jam of shooting guards and small forwards on the bench. Jones' agent, Leon Rose, also represents DeSagana Diop. Jones becomes the 15th player under contract on the Mavs 15-man roster for next season.
