Mets offer Lowe three-year deal
The 'Ropolitans | NY Mets Baseball Blog — According to Jack Curry of the NY Times, the Mets have offered Derek Lowe a three-year deal worth around $36 million. This backs up a story from Dec. 24, in which it was noted Lowe and the Mets were "close" on a three- or four-year deal. This would be much lower than the deal Lowe is seeking, which Curry noted to be for "five-years, $90 million." Lowe, 35, is coming off a 14-11 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

News: Mets Make Offer to Lowe
MetsBlog.com — According to Jack Curry at The New York Times, the Mets have made an offer to sign Derek Lowe for three years and for about $36 million. Curry adds that Lowe is reportedly seeking seeking a five-year, $90 million deal. …i can only guess that this is where the negotiations begin, so i wouldn’t be surprised to see either the years or the dollar amount change…hopefully this is where the negotiations also end…

Mets reportedly make Lowe an offer
Hot Foot — Jack Curry of the New York Times is reporting that the Mets have offered Derek Lowe a three year deal worth about $36 million. Scott Boras, Lowe’s agent, is reportedly seeking a 5 year deal worth $90 million for the 36 year old starter.  While the negotiations are likely preliminary, it should be interesting to see whether the market will allow Lowe to get anywhere near the big money he is seeking. I sincerely doubt any team would give a 36 year old starter a 5 year deal so I wouldn’t worry about the Mets being priced out of these negotiations. The ...

Mets Make Offer To Derek Lowe
Mets-Prospectus — According to Jack Curry of the New York Times the New York Mets have offered Free Agent RHP Derek Lowe a three year, $36 Million deal. Curry points out, “The Mets do not want to offer Lowe more than three guaranteed years, so if he holds firm in his pursuit of five years, he may not be close to signing.” I’m glad that the Mets have begun the negotiations with Derek Lowe and I hope things develop within a week or two so that a deal can be hammered out early into the New Year. I’m sure Lowe and Scott Boras will not accept this offer as Lowe ...

Mets make an offer to Derek Lowe
MetsCitiBlog — ... Not surprisingly, the Mets made an offer of 3 years for $36 million dollars today to Derek Lowe.  If you had asked me to make a prediction on what I thought the opening bid would be, it would be this.  It is a safe bet that is neither a low ball offer nor too high to start.   ...

Mets Make Offer To Lowe
Amazin' Avenue — Per Mets.com (and corroborated by the New York Times, the Mets have reportedly extended an offer to Derek Lowe for three years and $36 million. The Times article mentions that Lowe was seeking a five-year, $90 million deal, so don't be surprised to see this one drag on a while. This isn't an especially strong offer from the Mets, so count on agent Scott Boras coming back with what lawyers like to call a "counteroffer" in the neighborhood of four years and $64 million. I can see this one settling in around 3/$45 with a vesting option or even 4/$60. Four ...

Let's Keep the Dodgers in Flushing
New York Mets Fan Blog — ... . There was certainly more Mets chatter than I expected over the Christmas holiday. So let's get to it, shall we? The Mets possibly made a 3-year, $36 million offer to free agent pitcher Derek Lowe. If yesterday's news about Lowe by Jack Curry of the New York Times is accurate, this would be a coup for the Mets. They get the best pitcher still available to complement Santana while not paying as high a premium as previously believed. If the money is close, Derek Lowe's your #2 starter in Citi Field. The Mets certainly seem interested in an outfielder from Los Angeles. Which ...
