More proof that Spring stats don't matter, I guess. Crystal did manage to work a 3-1 count before waving at the next two pitches. Maholm must have been sweating those. By striking Crystal out, he saved himself from what I only assume would have been an entire career's worth of clubhouse jokes.

I didn't care for the fact Billy Crystal played in today's game, but I'll say for a guy who is not a baseball player, and at 60 years old, he didn't emberass himself. Ok, so he struck out in his at-bat (he hit leadoff); however he fouled off a pitch before being sent back to the bench. Now I know its still spring training, but by all accounts, his curveball is looking sharp and dropping in for strikes. In 2005, Tom Verducci participated in the Toronto Blue Jays spring training camp and wrote about it. His one at bat took place at a Blue Jays intrasquad game.
