Pereira said the official was actually flagging the safety for a helmet-to-helmet hit on the defenseless receiver but away from the play and out of camera view, the back judge actually penalized Meriweather for the taunt. After a conference, the head linesman determined there was no helmet-to-helmet hit; that penalty was waved off, thus causing the taunting penalty to take effect.
