Mike Cameron, Savior (flag)
skyking162.com — I’d like to nominate Milwaukee’s signing of Mike Cameron as the best free agent move of the off-season. It’s basically a one-year deal for $7 million and triggers an avalanche of changes on defense: Cameron saves 20 runs over Bill Hall in center, Hall saves 30 runs over Braun at third, and Braun should only be 10 runs worse than Gabe Gross in left. Plus, Cameron's bat has been underrated by PETCO.

So the Brewers OF looks like Braun in LF, Cameron in CF & Hart in RF, but what about the young guys like Chris Gwynn, etc.?

Honestly, I don't know much about the Brewers farm system, but I don't think anyone was slated to be brought up this year.  Maybe LaPorta, which has upset some people who see Braun now blocking his spot in left.  But I don't think keeping Braun at 3B is a viable option no matter who he might be blocking.  Having too many poor fielders is an organizational problem, not a Braun or LaPorta problem.

skyking162: Mike Cameron, Savior
BBTF's Baseball Primer Newsblogskyking162: Mike Cameron, Savior Sky seeks to bring the live image of his living presence to the homebound, the workplace, remote areas around the world...and even Milwaukee! If the Brewers hadn’t signed Cameron, they’d be batting Gabe Gross, a career .245/.343/.410 hitter. If Cameron repeats his 2007 numbers, he’s similar to Gross offensively. If he hits like 2006, he’s 15 runs better. Including both offense and defense, the Brewers are between 4.0 and 5.5 wins better with Mike Cameron than without him. At $4 million per win, that’s worth between $16 and $22 million on the ...

Best Left Fielders of 2008
Beyond the Box Score — ... 3. Ryan J Braun (43 off, 2 def, 45 tot) -- Ryan Braun, defensive asset?  It was obvious left field was a better fit for his skills, but who knew he'd be this good?  If he could bump his OBP up .050 points by taking a walk now and then, he'd be one of the best ten players in the game. ...
