Marc Spears: Miller and McMillan On Different Pages
Blazersedge — Yahoo's Marc Spears is one of the best in the business at getting players to tell him how they really feel. He got Greg Oden to open up about visiting a sports psychologist and now he's gotten Andre Miller to speak honestly about the battle for starting point guard. Go devour that piece, it's a great read.   A few of the big time issues... "If I was told right out when I had my meetings that I would be a backup, then I wouldn't have come here," Miller told Yahoo! Sports this week. ...

Andre Miller's Arrival in Portland Not Quite Rosy
FanHouse — by Tom Ziller Filed under: Trail BlazersEven skeptics chalked up Portland's Andre Miller acquisition as a win. Miller, one of the best distributors of this decade, figured to augment an already lethal Blazers offense while providing a jolt of veteran leadership. Even if you don't believe in the power of savvy, Miller's passing skills sit on a different plane than those of Steve Blake, the incumbent. What Portland probably didn't count on was Miller causing drama ... in the preseason. Blazers coach Nate McMillan has been insisting Blake is the starter for now. What in the World is Happening?
Blazersedge — ... As if this weren't enough, we find Ben's post right below referencing Marc Spears of YahooSports on the turbulent onset of the Andre Miller era.  You can scroll down a couple inches and read it for yourself, so I won't detail it here.  Suffice it to say Miller is raising issues of (you guessed it) starting rotations, playing time, and ego.  He missed contract status, having just penned one, but he did throw in player-coach relations.  It's hardly a damning piece, nor are these fatal issues, but they do provide more grist for the ...

Competition Discussion: Rest of the League
Bullets Forever — ... 's a great coach.  The only lingering issue seems to be with Miller.  The argument for signing Miller is that he brings something different, both on the court (another creator, a guy that exhibits great on-court leadership) and off the court (quiet, almost aloof guy among a bunch of rah-rah youngins).  But that could be as much of a negative as a positive, as we've seen at times this preseason.  If the Blazers and Miller are willing and able to tinker with their styles to suit each other, this team could easily challenge the Lakers in a seven-game Western ...
