ChicagoCubsOnline.com — Starlin Castro was born on March 24, 1990 in the Dominican Republic ... he hits and throws right-handed (6'1", 160 at beginning of 2009 season). Jose Serra signed Starlin Castro out of the Dominican Republic on October 25, 2006. Castro played in the Dominican Summer League in 2007 (at age 17) and put up a solid line in 60 games (.299/.371/.371 with six doubles, two triples and two home runs with 23 walks and 24 strikeouts).
