Mets probable pitcher Mike Pelfrey Mets: Pelfrey was again inefficient last Saturday against the D-backs, allowing 13 total baserunners for the second straight game. Since winning his first two starts this season, Pelfrey has regressed, serving up 28 hits over the ensuing three outings. He's walked eight batters over his last two starts and struck out only two -- but perhaps there's ... [link]

Mets Recap Game #2
Published 5/11/2008 by NYteamsWin (noreply@blogger.com) at Mets Prospects Minors Blog | MetsProspectus.com
Not the type of game you wanted to see following the 1st game. The one person you cannot blame for the loss is the person who took the loss in the 7-1 shellacking by the Reds. Mike Pelfrey(below)managed to pitch 6 innings of 2-run ball and took the loss(2-3) Pelfrey got better as the game moved along and had a 1:3 B/K ratio. He was hitting 93-94 with that nice sinker and throw his slider for strikes. It was not the best start, but he is improving and showing signs of what he will do in the future. Duaner Sanchez was completely awful. He ...

Arroyo Has Good Start, Keeps Spot
Published 5/11/2008 by Patrick Dorsey at The Transaction Guy
The Reds won the second game of today’s doubleheader against the Mets 7-1. Before this game, Bronson Arroyo had struggled mightily in nearly all of his starts. Some believed that Dusty Baker was on the verge of dropping him to the bullpen with one more horrendous start, as his control and velocity had been way off. Tonight, however, he had a very good outing. He went eight innings, saving a tired Cincinnati bullpen, and gave up just one run and four hits. He also got nine strikeouts. So, it was easily the best start for Bronson this season. Granted, it was against a Mets lineup that had already played a game today, but it’s still huge ...

Waking Up

After a weekend that saw him produce a 5-RBI game and a 3-RBI game, it may be that time of year where Carlos Beltran begins to go on one of his hot streaks. About damn time. After a rainout on Friday night, which drew the ire of some indignant fans who like to scream and yell on WFAN, the Mets and Reds staged one of my most favorite Baseball Traditions on Saturday: The Day-Night Doubleheader. In the afternoon half of this mockery, the Mets put up 12 runs, backing Johan Santana, who clearly didn't have his best stuff. This meant that, after Wednesday's game in LA, the Mets had back-to-back games in which they scored 12 ...

Adam Bostick heading north?

Anthony McCarron hints at a possible move the Mets might be making in the coming days due to Saturday's doubleheader. From McCarron: Lefty Adam Bostick was yanked from his start last night at Triple-A New Orleans after three scoreless innings, meaning he possibly could be called up to start Wednesday when the Mets may need a fill-in starter as a result of yesterday's doubleheader.
