Okay, so maybe that is overstating it a bit.  It is not exactly clash of the titans -- as if any game between two NL Central teams this season could ever qualify as that.  However, with this being the last game between the Brewers and Cubs this year (absent some freak accident involving the Padres, Diamondbacks, Phillies, Dodgers....hell, everyone but the Pirates), this is a significant occurrence.  With St. Louis losing today (thanks to the Garnerless Astros), this is a must-win for the Cubs.  ...

Not only have the actual Mets enjoyed a beating at Citizens Bank Park the past three days, now their fans are joining in the fun. In the ninth inning of last nights game (before Marlon Anderson secured the Philthie victory) some fans decided to take their anger out on Metro fans, who obviously don’t know how to act properly in someone else’s house.

Phillies seal four-game sweep against Mets

The Phillies were able to close the gap in the NL East by sealing a four-game sweep over the Mets today. The Phillies did it in dramatic fashion and now trail the Mets by two games.

Tigers acquire Chris Lambert from St. Louis Cardinals

The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has acquired right-handed pitcher Chris Lambert from the St. Louis Cardinals as the player to be named later to complete the trade on June 22 in which left-handed pitcher Mike Maroth was sent to the Cardinals. Lambert will be assigned to Triple-A Toledo.
