With the Red Wings playing in the Winter Classic, most of the homes in Detroit were tuned to the Capital One Bowl on ABC. The Capital One Bowl between Michigan State and Georgia drew a 15.2/28 rating in Detroit, 45% higher than the 10.5/20 for the Red Wings/Blackhawks Winter Classic on NBC. Overall, the difference between the two events amounted to approximately 90,000 households. Nationally, the Winter Classic drew a 2.9 overnight rating on NBC, up 12% from last year. National ratings for the Capital One Bowl are not yet available.
